Deacon Ministry at Ross Grove
Deacons are ministering servants of the church who serve under the leadership of the pastor. The deacons support and work with the pastor in performing his duties throughout their time of service. Deacons lead the church in achieving its mission. They minister to and care for the church members while encouraging and strengthening those who need lifting up. Deacons are responsible for the ordinances of Baptism and Communion. Special interest projects of the Ross Grove deacons include honoring and remembering those in our church that are veterans, providing deacon training opportunities, and ministering to and providing means for financial assistance to members in need. Deacons are ex-officio members of the Finance Committee and are expected to attend regular meetings of that committee as well as attending monthly Deacon’s Meetings.
At Ross Grove, our deacons practice what is called Deacon-Family Ministry, which means that each deacon is assigned to a group of members in our church. This ensures that all of our church members have a representative in leadership and a direct link to more efficient pastoral care.
